About Us
James began his design career in 1979 after attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. During his first season, his label appeared at Barney's, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue — virtually the most exclusive stores in the country. In the years since that first collection, James Hogan clothing has been carried by the top retailers & fine boutiques throughout the United States and has appeared in Women's Wear Daily, W, Vogue, and Town & Country as well as other leading fashion publications.
James' clothing combines impeccable craftsmanship with the beauty of the world's finest fabrics — hand made lace from the South of France, wool from small "boutique" mills in England & Italy, and silk from Italy & Switzerland. There's not only something about the way his clothing looks but also about the way it feels when it's worn.
"I design clothing for women that compliments who they are and how they live their lives. I love to see my clothing worn until it 'wears out' — you should be able to have an outfit for 15 years and still have it look fabulous."
After many years as a successful designer on Seventh Avenue, James sought a new direction for his work. He returned to his native Massachusetts where he opened his first retail store in a wonderfully restored Victorian.
"I loved working directly with clients in the stores I visited over the years, and decided to open my own. It has been a wonderful experience."
In August 2004 James opened a second retail store in the design district in historic Savannah, Georgia.
In addition to his own couture designs, the James Hogan retail stores offer the best of American and European designers — including Etro, Piazza Sempione, and Charles Chang Lima.
